Application of design and drafting skills to development projects. This includes new models and drawings as well as modification of existing drawings and models. Ability to generate concepts and mechanical designs for jigs, fixtures, machine elements and machine sub-assemblies.
Ability to generate ball tooling and cavity models and drawings for injection & compression mold processes, including side actions, lifters, hydraulic core pulls, floating plates, interchangeable inserts and cavities. Ability to design finished casting tooling from product design engineers. On-going design, analysis and modification of a wide variety of golf ball process tooling, including frames, grinding wheels, fixtures, carriers, repair tooling, etc. Ability to conduct and coordinate experiments, pilots and trials through all manufacturing operations. Ability to collect, review and analyze data from experiments using standard computer tools like excel, minitab or QAS.
Ability to evaluate and/or supervise fabrication, assembly and debugging of projects designed by self, other members of the staff or commercially obtained equipment. Ability to work with internal and external vendors to order tooling, parts, troubleshoot, document or develop concepts.Ability to create engineering documentation, including training manuals, data analysis, power point presentations, etc. to support project development decisions. Ability to develop training packages and deliver training as needed to members of the production, maintenance or engineering staffs.
Education: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering course of study is required.
Experience: 0-2 years experience in mechanical design related activities such as design of devices, machine fabrication, Solidworks modeling and Autocad. Candidate should demonstrate ability to become familiar with pneumatic and hydraulic systems (reading schematics), PLC programming (understanding schematics, logic & I/O), machine troubleshooting (isolation techniques), machine fabrication techniques, and machining tolerances. Experi9ence with statistical tools or 6 sigma training is a plus.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Solidworks and AutoCAD proficiency. Strong skill in communication and ability to convey understanding of complex information. Good interpersonal behaviors and detail orientation.
