In a position of immediately supervised design work, apply broad knowledge of industrial design to create, develop, and communicate performance, proprietary & premium product design concepts for the category of Golf Titleist Gear. Supports the product creation design team on projects employing various art, design, graphic and problem solving skills to create product opportunities necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. Consults with design management, product team and development teams to evaluate difficult projects in an organized manner so as to align with critical path schedule requirements. Works with supervision and input from senior design staff members, occasionally working on independent projects as required and skills dictate. Creates, develops and refines conceptual product design concepts for product opportunities and incorporate features and benefits, form and function as deemed needed. Consults with design management and development teams to evaluate projects in an organized manner so as to align with critical path schedule requirements and our product creation calendar. Works closely with product creation team in support of the design team, and on individual projects, in order to develop new golf gear concepts and products. Conducts and participate in product development meetings, design critiques, vendor meetings, first article inspections and cosmetic/design approval process as necessary. Possess, apply and be willing to learn about materials and construction techniques needed to commercialize golf bags, travel, headwear and headcovers and their components. Deliver the special details needed based on insights gained from the dedicated golfer. Maintain and develop knowledge and expertise of new methods to further enhance departmental design and development capabilities. Assist in the creation of competitive products to counter smaller brands who are focused on the high end segment of the market and the top key US clubs for the Gear categories. Maintains broad knowledge of design concepts. Pursues design and utility patents in previously unexplored areas by submitting invention records and actively supporting I.P. efforts. Maintains broad knowledge of design techniques, including computer graphics/design/CAD generation, sketches, hand work, rapid prototyping, machined/finished prototyping, and visual communication/presentation tools. Works to create innovative solutions, process and material usages that can be sampled, validated and commercialized on a continual basis. Applying broad knowledge of computer based program, generates necessary documentation and images to facilitate communication and support to Product Design/Development Engineering, Suppliers, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing.
The qualified candidate will possess a BS/BA Degree in Industrial Design or closely related field. More than 3 years of professional experience is required. Broad knowledge of computer-based concept/design/graphic packages (Photoshop, Illustrator, some 3D desirable but not required), 2D and 3D Product prototyping ability, (sketching, model making, painting, and hand working), Excellent communication and presentation skills, Project Management skills and experience, Office computer software (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, etc.). Possess and apply broad knowledge in the field of Golf Club design desirable, product design, developmental processes, materials, construction, engineering design techniques, and market trends. Capable of using computer for long periods of time. Possible travel domestically and internationally.
