Sr. QA Engineer*

The qualified candidate will lead the Quality Assurance functions for Custom printing and Packaging Operations to establish and achieve process quality, product quality and continuous improvement goals. Lead Custom quality resources to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and achieve Corporate goals related to external quality and internal quality at Custom Golf Ball Operations and the Packaging Center.  Take leadership of the QSC (Quality Steering Committee), serving as the Custom representative for the Corporate QIP (Quality Initiative Program) and provide direct supervision to the Quality Technician and up to 10 of the Custom hourly Sample Inspectors. Perform administrative duties for QAS/DMS and SPC. Initiate and support projects that improve process quality, reduce variation, streamline methods, reduce costs and improve product quality. Lead and support continuous improvement efforts and teams in both Custom and Pack Center.  Oversee the Change Notice and sign off process and monitor for improvement opportunities. Lead the C/N & Document Review Committee to ensure integrity and accuracy of Custom and Pack Center documentation changes and coordinate regular scheduled verification audits.  Coordinate process/test equipment calibrations.  Conduct on-going review of Custom quality standards ensuring alignment with customer expectations.


The eligible candidate will be required to have a BS Degree in an Engineering or related discipline along with strong chemistry knowledge or experience. A BS in Chemical, Plastics, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred. A minimum of 5 years Quality Assurance experience is required, preferably in a manufacturing or job shop environment. Experience working with inks, plastics, paints, rubber or other raw materials found in golf balls is preferred. ASQ certification preferred. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to work with LEAN and/or Six Sigma methodologies and CI teams.  Experience with pad printing, inkjet printing, and computer graphics is a plus. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be able to be present in the manufacturing environment on a regular basis for extended periods of time and is therefore, subject to normal exposures to dust, heat, chemicals, and noise present in a manufacturing environment. Excellent PC skills including proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint required. SPC experience and the ability to establish sampling plans required. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels within Acushnet Company Manufacturing.
